| An island feel at Las Palmas Park |
These playgrounds have toddler-friendly designs (either fenced-in toddler areas or toddler areas with good separation from dangerous big kid spots, swings separated from play structures, etc.) and/or cool, visually appealing themes.
- Seven Seas Park (Sunnyvale) (Amazing ocean theme throughout huge play area, with separate fenced-in toddler area, sand, water feature, fun big-kid area and musical instruments around surrounding lawn. Great theme, great design, great park.)
- Las Palmas Park (Sunnyvale) (A major renovation that created a fenced-in toddler area with a fun Polynesian theme and updated the island "big kid" playground with a super high climbing structure, while keeping the huge lake and palm trees, made this a great park.)
- War Memorial Playground (Santa Clara) (Cool ant theme carried through the whole park, with the sand area separated from the play area and the swings separated from that.)
- Lincoln Glen Park (Willow Glen) (Great design for young toddlers -- fully fenced toddler area, with play structure separated from sand area, which in turn is separated from the swings.)
- Parma Park/Jake's Play Lot (Almaden) (Clearly designed with toddlers in mind, the toddler area is fully-fenced, with play structure separated from swings, cute paths and landscaping, and toddler-height trash cans and picnic tables. Cute theme too, drawing from the local quicksilver mines and mining trains.)
- Serra Park (Sunnyvale) (Awesome Mark Twain riverboat theme in big kids' area and treehouse theme in fenced-in toddler area -- downside is that toddler area is small and can get crowded.)
- Mariposa Park (Mountain View) (A delightful butterfly theme permeates this really nice, well-maintained neighborhood park.)
Please note that these reviews are based on my observations or experiences on the day(s) I visited the park in question, with my own particular toddler. Park conditions can change, the clientele may vary day to day, and things that are safe and fun for one child may not be for another.
